NATCHEZ — A celebration of life for Jo Doris Idom Freeman, 80, who died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, at Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care, a caring and loving community in Brandon, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Stanton Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Steve Purvis officiating.
Mrs. Freeman was born Nov. 24, 1937, in Columbia, the daughter of Hugh Loper Idom and Lillian Rogers Idom.
She nourished the people around her with her love, faith and loyalty.
She married James C. Freeman on Nov. 27, 1953, in Port Gibson. They made their home in Natchez where they raised their three children and made a number of lifelong friends.
Freeman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James Dale Freeman; one sister, Mary Idom Polk; one brother, Roger Hulon Idom; two brothers-in-law, Floyd Arnold Jr. and James K. Polk; and one niece, Angela Gay Smith
Survivors include two loving children, Raymond Keith Freeman and wife, Kathy, and Terry Lane Freeman and wife, Karen; six grandchildren, Wendy Freeman Ansley and husband, Alexster, Jeremy Keith Freeman, Erica Lauren Freeman, Jesse Philip Freeman and wife, Heather, Dana Diane Freeman and Cole Lane Freeman; two great-grandchildren, Kristen Reneé Jones and Jamie Lareé Jones; one sister, Anna Idom Arnold; one brother, James Ronnie Idom and wife, Cindy; and a number of nieces, nephews and family members.
She will be remembered as a patient and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
The Freeman family extends gratitude to all the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living and Memory Care and Kare-In-Home Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Freeman’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of Stanton Baptist Church.
