FRANKLINTON, La. — Adams County Christian School senior quarterbackaccounted for just over 200 yards of total offense and all fourtouchdowns as the No. 14 seeded Rebels defeated No. 3 seed Bowling Green School 30-19 in the first round of the MAIS Class AAA StatePlayoffs.

Yarbrough completed 11 of 19 passes for 175 yards and three touchdownswith one interception. He also had eight carries for 26 yards,including an eight-yard TD run with 8:11 remaining in the fourthquarter.

Defensively, he had four tackles and one interception.

Bowling Green (8-3) scored first on a one-yard touchdown run by seniorquarterback Johntae McDowell with 5:39 left in the first quarter. Itdidn’t take long for ACCS to tie the game at 6-6 – just 36 seconds later when Yarbrough threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Jakarius Caston.

The Buccaneers regained the lead at 12-7 on McDowell’s 71-yardtouchdown pass to Cameron Bell with 8:55 to go in the second quarter.

That, however, would be their final lead of the game.

Yarbrough hooked up with Caston on a 29-yard TD pass and Caston’stwo-point conversion run gave the Rebels a 14-12 lead with 1:12 leftuntil halftime. Then with 12 seconds to go until the half, Yarbrough connected with Glaston Magee on an 11-yard scoring strike and Castonran in for the two-point conversion for a 22-12 halftime lead.

After a scoreless third quarter, ACCS made it 30-12 on Yarbrough’s TDrun and his two-point conversion pass to Paul Cupstid. Bowling Greenscored on a 29-yard TD pass from McDowell to Bell and Gage Wingetadded the extra point with 1:03 remaining in the ball game.

Caston was the Rebels’ leading receiver with five catches for 102yards as well as their leading rusher with 16 carries for 56 yards. Healso had an interception on defense.

Magee had four receptions for 36yards. DJ Stampley had eight carries for 38 yards as well as fourtackles and two sacks.

Yohan Thompson and Rhet McDonald were ACCS’s leading tacklers with six and five tackles, respectively.

ACCS (3-7) will be on the road again this Friday when it plays at No.6 seed Starkville Academy in the Class AAA State Quarterfinals.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
