NATCHEZ — Authorities said they are investigating a report of shots fired just before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Natchez police responded to reports of multiple shots fired in the Beaumont Street and Union Street area and near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Street and Aldrich Street.
Not long after, Adams County Sheriff’s deputies were on the scene at Beaumont Grocery where a caller had reported that the back window of the Red Camaro that he was driving was shot out. Chief Jerry Brown of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department said the car at Broadmoor Grocery was related to the incident that happened in the city on Beaumont Street.
Chief Walter Armstrong said Natchez police were in the process of an investigation.
“They have gotten into the area where the call was made from. So far they haven’t found anyone who has done the shooting,” Armstrong said. “They did stop a car with some weapons in it, and that’s not saying they’re the ones who did it. Right now the most important thing is no one has been shot.”
