NATCHEZ — For three local women, the end of Satya Yoga Studio in Natchez was the beginning of a new relationship and new business venture — Namaste Natchez.

Stephanie Daly, Monica Woods and Danielle Blain decided to start a yoga studio when Satya Yoga owner Lee Carby chose to close Satya’s doors in September.

All three of the women were regular instructors at Satya Yoga.

“We all got together and decided we wanted to continue to share the practice of yoga in Natchez,” Blain said.

Blain, who has been doing yoga for nearly 12 years, said Every Day Adventures owner Lena McKnight is subletting her space for the new studio at 334 Main St.

The studio opened at the beginning of October.

“We have classes Monday through Sunday, seven days a week,” Blain said.

Blain said the studio welcomes all who are interested in yoga — from those who have never taken a class to those who have been practicing yoga for years.

“We encourage anyone to come,” Blain said. “There are no specific requirements that need to be met.”

Blain said all three instructors offer modifications to any of the poses taught at the studio that meet the needs of those attending the classes.

“You already have everything you need,” Blain said. “We will take care of the rest.”

Blain said that although many people think yoga is just about performing a variety of poses, yoga provides so much more.

“It gives people a solid foundation and helps guide them through things (in their lives) that are both joyous and difficult,” Blain said. “Yoga is never just about the pose.”

Along with increasing physical strength and flexibility, yoga also helps with stress management, mental focus and helps strengthen the mind, Blain said.

“It evolves and changes with you,” Blain said. “It grows along with you as long as you put the time into it.”

Blain said each of the three instructors is registered, completing multiple hours of training. Daly and Woods each have completed 200 hours of training. Blain is certified as a 500-hour advanced instructor.

Weekly classes at Namaste Yoga range from sunrise flow classes at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays to a variety of afternoon and evening classes.

“We plan to offer an intro to yoga class after the beginning of the year,” Blain said.

Individual instruction is also available, Blain said.

For those who are interested in learning more information about Namaste Natchez, Blain said they could go to the studio’s Facebook and Instagram pages or email the studio at namastenatchez@gmail.com.
