NATCHEZ — Services for Rebecca Marvel Brooks, 100, of Natchez, who died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Forest Aid Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.  
Burial will follow at the Providence Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Brooks was born, April 15, 1918, in Adams County, the daughter of Alex Marvel Sr. and Rebecca Rowan Marvel.
Following her graduation from high school, she continued her education at Alcorn State University and Jackson State University. Brooks was a teacher in the Natchez public schools for 37 1/2 years where she retired. She was a member of the Forest Aid Baptist Church where she served as past church secretary and Sunday school teacher. She was also co-founder of the church club and a member of the Mother’s Board.
Brooks enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, teaching, attending church activities and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Brooks Sr.; her parents; two sons, Ernest Brooks Jr. and Joseph Nathaniel Brooks; and son-in-law, Mose E. Warren.
Survivors include four sons, the Rev. James Brooks and wife, Evelyn, Don A. Brooks and wife, Gloria, Leroy A. Brooks and wife, Martha, and Gilmer M. Brooks and companion Bobbie; two daughters, Iris R. Rice and husband, Charley, and Cheryl B. Warren and companion, James; daughter-in-law, Rita C. Brooks; two brothers, Joseph Marvel and Leo Marvel; 28 grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
