NATCHEZ — Services for C.Q. “Red” Hamilton, 93, of Natchez, who died Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at his residence, will be 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Hunter Ainsworth officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Church Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
Mr. Hamilton was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Denmark, the son of Howard and Ila Hamilton. He was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, a former governor of the Mississippi Civitan Club Magnolia District and a member of Telephone Pioneers. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Hamilton received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and was a Bronze Arrowhead recipient. After he retired from South Central Bell, he became the owner of Natchez Telephone & Security Systems.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Audley Hamilton, Calvin Hamilton and Wayne Hamilton; and two sisters, Wilma Smith and Charlene Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife, Burtie Hamilton; one son, Kirk Hamilton of Natchez; one daughter, Ellen Posey and husband, Robin, of Union Church; five grandchildren, Erin Hogan and husband, Chris, of Ashburn, Va., Beth Ainsworth and husband, Hunter, of Brandon, Jacob Hamilton of Natchez, Clay Posey and Emily Posey, both of Union Church; three great-grandchildren, Evie, Elliot and Watson Ainsworth, all of Brandon; and one sister-in-law, Polly Hamilton.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Hamilton, Clay Posey, Tom Hamilton, Brian Smith, Bob Smith, Ronald Kyzar and Chris Hogan.
The family thanks Pat Johnson for her faithful care she gave to Mr. Hamilton.
