NATCHEZ — Services for Alfred “Dad” Strauder Jr., 87, of Natchez, who died Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Southwood Lodge Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Cusic officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Strauder was born Dec. 17, 1930, in Natchez, the son of Alfred Strauder Sr. and Ada Swayze Strauder.
He was retired from Sears Roebuck, Paul L. Green Realtors and Guido Realtors.
Strauder was a member of the Southwood Lodge Baptist Church. He enjoyed baseball, gardening and farming.
Strauder was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Dana Yolanda Strauder; one grandson, Jerel Gardner; and son-in-law, Michael Varnado.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Marie Strauder; five sons, Edward Strauder and wife, Ruth, Alfred Strauder, Larry Strauder, Terry Strauder and wife, Marcella, and Anthony Strauder and wife, Lisa; adopted son, Damien Strauder; three daughters, Shirley Whigham and husband, Melvin, Dorothy Gardner and Katrina Lloyd and husband, Kenneth; one brother, Jessie Strauder; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Brenda Pittman and husband, the Rev. Garlee Pittman; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins friends and especially the Southwood Lodge Baptist Church family.
