Saturday is National Public Lands day, and several local federal properties will have free tours.

“In celebration of National Public Lands day on Saturday,” said Kathleen Bond, superintendent of Natchez National Historical Park, “tours of the Melrose mansion will be free for the day.”

Melrose mansion is located at 1 Melrose Montebello Parkway, Natchez, and tour times will be Saturday at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., Bond said.

There is never an admission charge at the William Johnson House or Fort Rosalie.
