Lady Rebels fall to Parklane

MCCOMB — Despite walking five batters, Alli Albritton held Adams County Christian School to just three hits over five innings as the MAIS Class AAAA Parklane Academy Lady Pioneers defeated the Class AAA Lady Rebels 5-1 Monday afternoon.
After ACCS leadoff hitter Ryleigh Walters walked and later scored in the top of the first inning, Albritton settled down and didn’t give up another run while striking out seven batters. Skye Sharpe came on in relief and pitched two innings of no-hit ball with two strikeouts and one walk.
Shelby Mason went 1-for-3 for the Lady Rebels and had their only extra-base hit with a double. Marlee Magee and Savanna Spear also went 1-for-3. Becca Cowan pitched all six innings for ACCS, allowing five runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out two and walking none.
The Lady Pioneers tied the game with one run in the bottom of the second inning and took the lead for good with a four-run rally in the bottom of the fourth. Liberty Gilliham went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs batted in and scored one run while Haley Jenkins was 2-for-2 with two runs scored.
ACCS (12-13) will play its final regular-season game today at 6:30 p.m. at Brookhaven Academy.
