NATCHEZ — Services for Melvin Weatherspoon Sr., 78, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, at his residence, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary Baptist Church, 11 Howard Loop Road in Natchez, with the Rev. Wilsonni Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Webb/Winfield Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mr. Weatherspoon was born April 9, 1940, in Gloster, the son of Samuel McKnight and Mamie Weatherspoon.
He attended Amite County High School. He was also a member of St. Mary Baptist Church.
Weatherspoon was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Rosie Miles.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue Willie Weatherspoon; three sons, Melvin Weatherspoon Jr. of Hendersonville, Tenn., Henry Weatherspoon and wife, Denise, of Osyka, and Reginald Weatherspoon of Natchez; three daughters, Renee Longs and husband, Andre, Doris Floyd and Vanessa Flynn and husband, Tayor, all of Minneapolis, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
