LHSAA football begins this week

The 2018 season for LHSAA football starts this week as local schools in Louisiana will take the field for their first week under the lights on Friday.
Home games
Vidalia takes on Sicily Island for both team’s annual season opener at 7 p.m. Friday.
The Vikings are looking to continue the success they had last year as the team finished 9-3 overall with an appearance in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. They should have great help from a number of returning players including senior quarterback Tristan Weatherly, as well as seniors De’Vonte Loyd, Jamar Lyons and others.
Block will host Buckeye for the Bears’ season opener at 7 p.m. Friday.
Road games
Ferriday is ready for its first chance to make noise as the Trojans travel to Class 5A Alexandria Senior High at 7 p.m. Friday.
Ferriday also finished strong last year, finishing 11-3 and falling in the Class 2A semifinals. The Trojans will likely lean on seniors Larry Scott, Dionntae Dishta and Jamal Turner, as well as others for strength and talent this year,
Delta Charter heads on the road for its first game of the year, traveling to Homer at 7 p.m. Friday.
Seniors Freddie Mango, Trey Poole, Rykeion Glasper and Everett Washington should lean the Storm this season.
