NATCHEZ — Residents still have time to enjoy a classical-music filled evening tonight at Brandon Hall plantation and help Team Natchez raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Team Natchez has recently fallen behind in a fundraising race called “Real Men Wear Pink,” and needs locals to support them for a good cause, said Mary Lessley, the Team Natchez cheerleader.

To help rally local support, a series of four concerts called “Concerts 4 the Cure” were planned in collaboration with members of the Natchez Festival of Music.

Lessley said the first event at New Direction Ministries was a huge success, and anyone in the area today wouldn’t want to miss the second concert in the series, the “All Classical Concert” — which starts at 4 p.m. this afternoon at Brandon Hall Plantation at 73 Natchez Trace Parkway, ticketed at $50 per person.

“It’s a must-attend concert, and 100 percent of the ticket costs will be donated to the American Cancer Society,” Lessley said. “We hope that everyone will come out and enjoy this event on their Sunday afternoon. … Tickets can be bought at the door. We won’t turn people away.”

Wine and hors-d’oeuvres will be served starting at 4 p.m. — courtesy of Cissy Eidt — Lessley said, and guests are encouraged to come early and enjoy the gardens before the concert, which starts at 4:30 p.m. and will feature Anton Zholondz, Vera Zholondz and Liliia Oliinyk.

“When we started Concerts 4 the Cure, (Anton) immediately crossed my mind,” Lessley said. “All three of the artists that will be here are native to Russia. … Anton and Liliia are now pursuing their doctorate degrees from Louisiana State University and Vera is teaching in Covington. … They have played in a lot of music orchestras across the country.”

Lessley said Regina Charboneau has graciously opened up Kings Tavern for an after party following the concert, where attendees can purchase a signature pink cocktail — a color salute to breast cancer awareness — while participating in a silent auction.

For every pink cocktail served, Kings Tavern will donate to the cause, Lessley said.

“We’d also like to thank Ashley and Kaiser Harris for hosting the concert in their house, Brandon Hall,” Lessley said.

Coming up later in the “Concerts 4 the Cure” series is the “All local Talent Concert on Sep. 23 at Dunleith Historic Inn ticketed at $25 each and “The Grand Finale with Peter Lake” — a local favorite in past Natchez Festival of Music performances — on Oct. 28 at Monmouth Historic Inn and Gardens tickets are $75 each.

All event proceeds will support the American Cancer Society and the Team Natchez campaign.
