NATCHEZ — Natchez police arrested a man Wednesday night in connection with several counterfeit $100 bills that were spent in various locations throughout Natchez.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said officers responded to a call from employees at a local fast food restaurant approximately 9:45 p.m. where Jovanti Barnes, 26, of Natchez, reportedly attempted to pass a fake $100 bill.
“We’ve had several $100 bills that have been handed out over the span of the past two weeks,” Armstrong said. “We have connected this individual to several of those $100 bills. Additional arrests are possible.”
Barnes was taken to the Natchez Police Department and charged with felony uttering forgery on Thursday with no bond issued as of Friday.
Armstrong said any suspicious looking bills should be reported immediately to the Natchez Police Department at 601-445-5565.
