PASAGOULA, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi man faces new charges in a road rage death earlier this year.
Luis Ruiz Soto Jr., 28, of Gautier was arraigned Tuesday on charges of second-degree murder, shooting a motor vehicle and two counts of aggravated assault.
The charges come in the Jan. 25 death of Leland Sumrall, who crashed after being shot several times. He died in a hospital a short time later.
Pascagoula police were called by a driver who said someone was shooting at a vehicle. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities described the shooting as a road rage incident.
Pascagoula police initially arrested Soto on murder and assault charges.
He pleaded not guilty to the new charges Tuesday.
Trial is scheduled Oct. 1.
