Delights of learning include theology

There is a special term reserved for people who are constant learners. The word is autodidact, which describes someone who is “self-taught.”

As we reflect upon our progress in human relations and understanding, however, we more likely conclude that we are rarely self-taught. Instead, we are interconnected (inter-didacts) to books by human authors, internet sites designed by others, formal teachers, personal advocates, societies and institutions who give opportunity to expand knowledge together.

Such is the case in Natchez.

Natchez provides opportunity for continuing advancement in the areas of biblical and theological studies as it continues this fall semester. The location is Christian Hope Baptist Church, which serves as the satellite campus of Jackson based, Mississippi Baptist Seminary and Bible College.

The Seminary exists for the training of clergy and lay people in the Adams County and surrounding areas.

This fall, four courses are offered for the advancing (autodidact) student in all things Christian and Theological. A phone call to the Natchez campus at 601-445-5995, 601-446-7067 or 601-431-4386 will allow you to get any questions answered.

The period for registration runs Aug. 20 through Sept. 17. Theresa Hall, the registrar for the extension, will be delighted to help you with any questions during this time.

The courses offered this semester are Old Testament Survey I, Church History, Church, Administration I, Pauline Letters, English Comp I. These courses will be taught by the Rev. Dr. John Scott, the Rev. Charles Chandler and me.

If you are serving as a lay leader, ordained clergy or simply a biblical autodidact wishing to clarify the cornerstones of Christian Faith, you will benefit in a learner-friendly environment with others wishing to improve their Christian understandings and fortify their historic roots for Christian Faith and Communities.

As you inquire about your personal learning through seminary studies, consider degree programs you can pursue: Associate of Divinity, Associate of Religious Education, Bachelor of Religious Education, Bachelor of Theology and Certificate Program.

So, are you an Autodidact? An inter-connected learner? Is learning for the sake of learning your pursuit? If yes, please register for one of the fall courses to build your foundations in knowledge and practices of the Christian Faith. Thanks for your interest and may God bless you in your continuing study of God through Jesus Christ.
