NATCHEZ — County supervisors unanimously agreed Monday to send Metro Service Group an invitation to modify the terms of its bid to become the county’s next waste collection service.
Metro had originally bid $9.72 per household, per month, for twice-a-week garbage collection and the invitation to submit an offer approved during Monday’s recess meeting asks Metro to rebid at $9.70 per household, per month, for twice-a-week pickup, said county attorney Scott Slover.
Slover said the invitation is non-binding and is not a rejection of any other offers on the table.
“Basically, it is to give an indication of what you would accept,” Slover said of the invitation.
The county likes the other terms of Metro’s offer, Slover said, and noted that all the offers from the top three bidders came in competitive.
The other two bidders are Hometown Waste LLC that bid $9.70 per month and Waste Pro that bid $9.79 per moth per household for twice a week pickup.
Slover said no deadline is associated with the invitation sent to Metro.
“When all is said and done,” Slover said, “we will have the most attractive offer.”
In other matters at Monday’s supervisors meeting, the board:
* Unanimously agreed to clarify previous meeting minutes in regards to the lease purchase of police trucks; the original minutes misstated the vehicles as SUVs instead of trucks, which is a $600 difference.
* Unanimously awarded a $7,900 bid to John Abbot to paint the old Kingston school.
* Approved a notice to proceed with phase II of the Belwood levee project,at $600,000 to be paid from portions of a grant from the Delta Regional Authority.
