Look for positive and you’ll find it

If you keep your eyes and ears open, good news is not difficult to find in the Miss-Lou. In case you missed it, here is a round up of just a few of the good news items reported in the Miss-Lou last week.
* After more than a year and a half, Vidalia finally finalized Project Blue, and we learned the industrial prospect is Vidalia Denim, a company that plans to use the 900,000 square-foot Fruit of the Loom facility to spin cotton and turn it into denim to sell to jeans manufacturers such as Wrangler. The project promises to bring 300 much-needed jobs to the area and that should have a positive effect on the local economy.
* When Kelly Phillips learned he was dying of cancer, he decided to forego the normal treatments, bought a houseboat and has been floating down the Mississippi River now for nearly three years. Along the way, he has met many great people and upon landing on the banks of the river in Natchez, he found even more generous good-hearted people who helped him overcome some boating issues he has encountered since landing here. Their assistance should help Phillips on his journey to the end of the river.
* What’s not to love about women named Linda? Nothing, and a whole lot of Lindas found a lot to love about Natchez as 65 members of the national Linda Club held the organization’s 31st convention at the Natchez Grand Hotel and enjoyed time seeing the sites in the city, including antebellum houses and plantations.
* Everyone in the Miss-Lou knows what a great respite Lake St. John can be, whether lounging in the cool lake waters, boating, fishing or skiing, and now, thanks to the long and determined efforts of Scott Kimbrell, some 85,000 readers of Pontoon and Deck Boat magazine know how wonderful Lake St. John is, too. Kimbrell pitched the magazine a story idea four years ago and it finally paid off as Lake St. John’s annual Fourth of July Flotilla and Blessing of the Boats was featured on the July cover of the magazine, complete pictures and a side bar story on Natchez.
As you go through the week this week, look around and you’ll see lots of good things happening in our community.
