NATCHEZ — Autopsy results indicated that a man found dead lying in the entrance of a Natchez restaurant earlier this month likely died of a drug overdose.

The body of Fabian Diaz, 34, was found in the doorway of the Taste of Chicago restaurant on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at approximately 3 a.m. on July 2.

The body appeared less than 15 minutes after Natchez police officers patrolled the area, Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said. No signs of trauma were found by officers or by  Adams County Coroner James Lee.

Lee said Saturday autopsy results and toxicology reports show that Diaz had taken a sufficient amount of drugs to kill him.

“There were multiple drugs found in his system,” Lee said. “Any and all of them could have caused his death.”

Lee said he could not go into specifics about the type of drugs that were detected in the report because the case is still an active investigation.

After reviewing the results, Lee and Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said they had determined that foul play was not involved in Diaz’s death.
