VIDALIA —A 69-year-old Vidalia woman was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm after she allegedly shot at someone in a car.
Mary Berry was arrested by Vidalia Police Department officers after officers were alerted to a shooting, Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill said.
Berry was arrested at approximately 2:18 p.m. Wednesday at 11 Byron Circle, in a neighborhood just behind Vidalia High School.
“The Vidalia Police Department received a complaint from an individual that someone had shot at them and their car was hit,” Merrill said.
Once officers arrived on scene, they found Berry was still at the residence while the person who allegedly was shot at had left the area and driven to the police station.
Barry’s bond was set at $1,500 and she was released Wednesday on a promise to appear in court.
“The investigation is still ongoing,” Merrill said. “No further information can be released at this time.”
