NATCHEZ — Services for the Rev. James Cornelius Anderson, 83, of Natchez, who died Monday, May 9, 2011, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church..

Rev. Anderson was born March 14, 1928, in Adams County, the son of Harry and Rachel Payne Anderson. He served as pastor of Greater Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and Pry’s Temple Missionary Baptist Church. He was also past treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist State Convention and former president of the PMB Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Cornelius Anderson; one sister, Annie L. Hoskins; and two brothers, Willie T. Anderson and Fred Anderson.

Survivors include a loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Katie L. Anderson; five daughters, Hattie Anderson Clark and husband, Carl, Hazel Anderson Washington and husband, Wilbur, Yvonne Anderson Ivory, Bonita Anderson Upshaw and husband, Henry, and adopted daughter, Elisa L. Anderson; one son, Henry Anderson; 12 grandchildren, Albert Washington, Katina Shannon, Courtney Bacon, Ursula Brooks Moore, Larry Young Jr., Cora Young, Katie M. Ivory, Gregory Trent, Elvin Ivory II, Isiah Trent and Mitchell James Washington; 19 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
