NATCHEZ — A Natchez man faces two stolen weapons charges after deputies said they found him in possession of a stolen Glock pistol and 20 grams of marijuana Monday night.
Adams County Sheriff’s Office deputies found the pistol with three loaded magazines and 50 rounds of ammunition between the driver’s seat and center console of 24-year-old driver Kejuan Raymonte Thompson’s vehicle during a traffic stop Monday evening on Myrtle Drive, the sheriff’s office reported. The Natchez Police Department reported the pistol stolen on May 25, sheriff’s deputies reported.
Deputies said Thompson admitted to being in possession of a firearm when they approached the vehicle, and that Thompson had a loaded AR-15 rifle in addition to the pistol. Deputies also recovered four ammunition magazines and 62 rounds of armor-piercing ammunition for the rifle.
Thompson was arrested and taken to the Adams County Jail, the sheriff’s office reported.
Later that evening, deputies executed a search a search warrant at Thompson’s residence at 25 Myrtle Drive, where they found a loaded Smith & Wesson pistol that the Natchez Police Department had reported stolen on Jan. 1, the sheriff’s office stated.
Thompson faces charges of two counts of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, and his bond has been revoked, ACSO said. He had been out on a $1,000 bond for receiving stolen property and burglary of a dwelling.
ACSO has worked closely with Assistant District Attorney Tim Cotton to get guns off the street and prosecute offenders, and in this case, Thompson’s bond was revoked upon Cotton’s request, the sheriff’s office reported.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten thanked both Cotton and Sixth District Circuit Court Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson for their work on this case.
Thompson remained in the county jail without bond as of Tuesday evening.
