FERRIDAY — Two juveniles have been arrested and charged with robbing an elderly, retired schoolteacher at gunpoint in Ferriday earlier this month, while three others are charged with forging the woman’s checks.
The Ferriday Police Department and Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that U.S. Marshals in Gulfport arrested two individuals for the armed robbery of Helen Brown, who had just gotten home from dropping off her son at work in the early hours of June 12 when she was robbed. The two people arrested were juveniles, said David Hedrick, Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office chief deputy.
Both juveniles are awaiting extradition to Concordia Parish, the sheriff’s office reported.
The two teens allegedly dumped the contents from Brown’s stolen purse into a garbage container, from which three other suspects plucked her checkbook and attempted to cash forged checks.
Those three suspects, 23-year-old Katina Banks, 19-year-old Zhane Green and 25-year-old Kenderrick Green all face charges of forgery and were being held at the Concordia Parish Jail as of 5:25 p.m. Thursday.
Both agencies thanked each other for their role in the investigation.
