ROXIE — A Jefferson County man faces narcotics charges after authorities say they found him in possession of more than a pound of methamphetamine early Friday morning.

Officers said they seized 1.1 pound of methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana and weapons at 3544 Stampley Road, Jefferson County, Friday morning and arrested Boris Ward, 46, of 3357 Stampley Road, Jefferson County, who was inside the trailer at the time, on two counts of sales of schedule II drug.

A press statement says that as officers searched the property, they opened the trunk of a Dodge Charger and discovered wrapped in blankets under the methamphetamine, a cache of weapons.

Officers said four of the firearms had been reported stolen from Adams County.

The press release says the weapons investigation is being turned over to Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to present the case to the United States Attorneys Office for prosecution.

The arrest was a coordinated effort between the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. For several weeks, this had been an ongoing investigation between all three agencies, said Travis Patten, Adams County Sheriff.

Special Operations Group Commander Maj. Shane Daugherty of Adams County said Ward is believed to have been supplying a substantial amount of drugs to Adams County residents.

In a joint press statement, Patten and Jefferson County Sheriff Peter Walker said, “This just goes to show how agencies working together can make an impact in the entire Mississippi-Louisiana region.”
