NATCHEZ — Services for Joseph Woods Jr., 81, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. Douglas Logan officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 5:30 p.m.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mr. Woods was born Jan. 1, 1937, in Adams County, the son of Joseph Woods and Hattie R. Woods.
He was retired from Fortenberry Drilling as a diesel mechanic.
Joseph was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and the 12 Gauge Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising chickens, cooking and preserving fruit.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Thelma J. Credit; and one brother, Henry Robinson.
Survivors include seven sons, Joseph Jones, Carrell Jones and wife, Wanza, Daryl McGee, Kewayne McGee and wife, Tracy, James Lewis, Joe Blanton and Dwayne Turner; four daughters, Betty Jean Jones Roberts and husband, James, Celia Ann Minor and husband, Matthew, Joann Bonds and husband, David, and Yolonda King and husband, Patrick; two brothers, Charles Woods and Robert L. Woods and wife, Wortha; eight sisters, Lucille Mazique, Lizzie L. Phipps, Rachel Woods, Annie L. Dennis, Hattie M. Robinson, Cora M. Minor, Jessie M. Logan and Criscita Woods; special friend, Martha Carter; and other relatives and friends.
