CHURCH HILL — Services for Will T. Fitzgerald, 93, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Vidalia, who died Tuesday June 5, 2018, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. today at Jefferson Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Church Hill.

Burial will follow at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at the church.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born April 3, 1925, the son of Boyd Fitzgerald and Beulah Rumble Fitzgerald.

He attended Church Hill Elementary School and Brumfield High School. He also attended Natchez College for two years before receiving his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Alcorn State University.

Will T. met his loving wife, Nannie McClellan in 1958 — they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February 2018.

He was an elementary school teacher in Natchez for 11 years and in Vidalia for 22 years, until his retirement. While living in Natchez, he also worked part-time as a salesman for more than 20 years and Gay & Wilson Supply and Pawn Shop. He was also a member of Jefferson Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served as a trustee, steward, banking committee treasurer and local Lay leader. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Spurgeon Lodge No. 304 of Church Hill. He was also a member of the Veterans Association and the Retired Teachers Association.

Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; Nannie McClellan Fitzgerald; two children, Lynn Fitzgerald Alexis and husband, Alton, of Fort Worth, and Andrew Fitzgerald and wife, Delores, of Memphis, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Brittany Alexis of Los Angeles and Andrea Fitzgerald of Arlington, Texas; two grandsons, Brian Alexis of Los Angeles, and Andrew Fitzgerald Jr. of Memphis; two great-grandchildren, Landen and Londen Traylor of Arlington, Texas; one sister, Althea Fitzgerald Ford of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
