VIDALIA — A high-speed chase ended Monday in a car crash and the arrest of two Louisiana men on more than a dozen charges.
Master Trooper Scott Moreau said a Louisiana State Police trooper noticed a 2016 Toyota Corolla traveling at approximately 110 mph in a 55-mph zone on Louisiana 568.
When the trooper attempted to pull the vehicle over, Moreau said the driver did not yield and led the trooper on a high-speed chase through Concordia Parish and into Tensas Parish, where deputies from the Tensas Parish Sheriff’s Office and officers of the Waterproof Police Department joined in the pursuit.
As the Toyota was traveling on Louisiana 128 toward St. Joseph, Moreau said it struck another vehicle and came to a stop.
The driver and passenger of the Toyota sustained minor injuries, Moreau said, and refused medical treatment at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the vehicle the Toyota struck was unhurt, Moreau said.
Inside the Toyota, Moreau said troopers found a cache of marijuana and schedule IV controlled drug substances as well as a firearm with the identification numbers scratched off.
Troopers arrested Vadual M. Gray, 22, 100 Elm St., St. Joseph, on charges of speeding over 90 mph, no driver’s license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm with obliterated numbers, carrying of weapons and controlled drug substance, possession of a controlled schedule IV drug substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, aggravated flight from an officer and possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
Officers also arrested Horatio A. Gray Jr., 18, 1108 Apple St., Vidalia, on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a firearm with obliterated numbers, possession of a firearm with controlled drug substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer.
Both men were being held in the Concordia Parish Jail with no bond set as of Tuesday morning.
