WOODVILLE — Services for Mary Marcella Ford Summers, 93, of Woodville, who died Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Wilkinson County Senior Care in Centreville, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Newman Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with the Rev. Warren Whitaker II officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Newman Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Summers was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Woodville, the daughter of Carrol Cage Ford and Laura Morris Ford.
She married Jewell H. Menser and they one son. She later married Waldon Summers and worked alongside him for a number of years raising cattle, sheep and pigs. She worked for a number of years at the Carter Garment Factory and retired from East Louisiana State Hospital.
Mrs. Summers loved gardening and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Waldon Summers; one son, Willie Carrol Menser; two brothers, Thomas Ford and Carrol Ford Jr.; and two sisters, Beatrice Ford and Mildred McGinty.
Survivors include one sister, Johnnie Vaden of Alexandria, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Betty Ford of Woodville; daughter-in-law, Ann Menser of St. Francisville, La.; two grandsons, David Menser and James Menser; and two great-grandchildren, Allison Menser and Travis Menser.
Pallbearers will be Blake Thomassie, Eric Morris, Ryan Perkins, John Vaden, Adam Oliveaux and Ben Oliveaux.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Robert Lewis and the loving staff at Wilkinson County Senior Care, especially B-wing staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Natchez Children’s Home or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
