After 16 years leading both Cathedral School’s boys and girls basketball teams, Peter Arnold is retiring from coaching and will not return next season.

Arnold began at Cathedral in 2001, starting as just the girls coach. He then switched to coaching the Green Wave boys basketball team two years later, coached both teams during the 2015-16 season and has coached just the girls for the past two years.

“I absolutely enjoyed every second of coaching,” Arnold said. “There were highs and lows, but in the end I’m absolutely thrilled to have had this opportunity.”

Over the years, Arnold said his main goals were to make sure all his players had fun, as well as making sure he stayed as enthusiastic as possible.

Along the way, Arnold said he believes he accomplished his goals while subsequently enjoying his position, too.

“It’s almost unfair how much fun I had,” he said. “It’s time for someone else to have a go at it, but I’ll miss it tremendously.”
