NATCHEZ — Services for Vergie Mary Williams Cain, 68, of Natchez, who died Sunday, May 20, 2018, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Sibley with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home with a celebration of life wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Cain was born Nov. 16, 1949, in Monticello, the daughter of Lenza Williams Sr. and Charlene Mallard Williams.
She was educated at McCoullough High School in Monticello, Natchez Junior College and Alcorn State University. She was retired from the Franklin County School District and Concordia Parish Schools.
Mrs. Cain was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and on the Mother’s Board. She was also a member of the Cemetery Club and Deacon’s Wives Club. Vergie enjoyed planting flowers, reading Sunday school lessons and singing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Charles Williams, Frank Williams Sr., and Lenza Williams Jr.; and one sister, Brenda Levy.
Survivors include her husband, Albert Cain Jr.; one daughter, Monique Cain-Jones and husband, Tavaris “TA”; two sisters, Linda Crawford and husband, Haywood, and Elizabeth Expose; two grandchildren, Tai Jones and Lenza Jones; three sisters-in-law, Ethel Mearle Williams, Annie Cain and Audrey Harris and husband, Calvin; two brothers-in-law, Leroy Levy and Robert E. Cain; and other relatives and friends.
