VIDALIA — A Vidalia woman was arrested over the weekend on 27 charges of fraud and identity theft.
Louisiana State Police officers arrested Hailey M. Guillory, 30, 1205 Apple St., Vidalia, on one count of identity theft, 10 counts of obtaining and possessing a controlled drug substance by fraud, 13 counts of insurance fraud and three counts of obtaining and possessing legend drugs by fraud.
Legend drugs are drugs that by law can only be obtained by a prescription. Controlled drug substances are also only obtainable by prescription, but are considered to have a higher potential for abuse.
Master Trooper Scott Moreau said the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics contacted the Louisiana State Police in December 2017 in regards to Guillory allegedly falsifying prescriptions to obtain legend and controlled substances in Concordia Parish.
Moreau said the investigation revealed that Guillory was using someone else’s name and private insurance to purchase fraudulent prescriptions and had done so at least 13 times.
Officers arrested Guillory and booked her into the Concordia Parish Jail Friday. She was released later that day on her own recognizance.
