ACCS wins close softball contest

NATCHEZ — Megan Cole finished 2-for-3 and scored the winning run as ACCS edged Jackson Academy 3-2 in Tuesday evening prep softball action.
Cole reached on a base hit in the bottom of the sixth, then advanced to third on a wild pitch. The Lady Rebels’ Lindsey Barber hit a sac fly, scoring Cole.
Sage Atkins got the win for the Lady Rebels. Jackson Academy’s McKenzie Comegy took the loss.
Comegy also hit a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth.
ACCS (2-2, 0-2) will travel to WCCA on Thursday.
Silliman 9, Trinity 0
NATCHEZ — Silliman winning pitcher Katlyn Weaver pitched five scoreless innings as Silliman shut out Trinity.
Trinity’s Katie Steele took the loss.
Madeline Cross went 2-for-2 with a double for Trinity. Silliman’s Taylor Rogillio finished 2-for-3.
Trinity fell to 1-3 on the season.
