The victim of a May 9 assault at a Ferriday Car Wash has died of her injuries, said Ferriday Police Investigator Richard Madison on Thursday morning.
“I received a call from the coroner this morning saying she had succumbed to her injuries,” Madison said.
The victim is Teresa Poole of the Ferriday area, said Madison, who did not have any other information about the victim at the time.
A magistrate hearing is set for Friday morning, Madison said, adding he expects charges will be upgraded for the suspect, Donteale K. Carter, 20, of 417 5th Street, Ferriday, who is currently being held in the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office jail on a charge of second-degree battery.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are investigating the incident that happened at a car wash at U.S. 84 and Sixth Street in Ferriday and was captured on video.
Madison said he obtained video footage from the car wash and identified the suspect who was arrested Tuesday.
A Louisiana State Police region 3 investigator and Concordia Parish Chief Deputy David Hedrick and his staff at Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation, Madison said.
