5 p.m. update: Crest date moved back one day

NATCHEZ — The National Weather Service has moved the predicted Mississippi River crest day at Natchez back one day, to May 21. The predicted crest height remains 64.

The Mississippi River now stands at 55.71 at Natchez.

Silver Street was closed early today to any unauthorized traffic. The street is still open to walkers much of the way down.
