NATCHEZ — A man who allegedly shot his ex-girlfriend Saturday night is in police custody after officers arrested him Monday night.
Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said Riley Trask, 32, entered the residence of his ex-girlfriend on Sgt. Henry L. Brown Drive just before midnight Saturday, assaulted the woman’s daughter and shot the woman.
Officers located Trask while executing a search warrant on Watts Avenue Monday night and arrested him on charges of aggravated stalking, attempted murder and burglary of a residence.
Armstrong said Trask has a long track record of violence, including an arrest as recent as May 4 on a charge of aggravated assault on Sgt. Henry L. Brown Drive.
Officers arrested Trask on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting or obstructing arrest again on April 9 after another incident at the same residence, Armstrong said.
Trask’s arrest history goes back as far as 2011, when he was charged with aggravated assault with use of a deadly weapon, Armstrong said.Trask also allegedly has a history of drug charges and was arrested on March 20 on charges of sale of schedule IV controlled substances in a countywide round-up of suspected drug dealers.
Armstrong said the victim had taken out a restraining order against Trask, but that Trask had violated the order by calling the residence on Sgt. Henry L. Brown Drive before he went to the residence Saturday night.
Armstrong said the victim’s gunshot wound was not life threatening, but that she was airlifted to Rapides Regional Medical Center early Sunday morning.
Officers arrested Trask without incident, Armstrong said, and Trask is expected to have his first court appearance today to set a bond.
