NATCHEZ — Top executives of the company that will likely be Natchez’s new waste and recycling collector, starting next month are scheduled to meet Tuesday with their expected newest client, the City of Natchez.
Less than a week after the city elected to negotiate with Arrow Disposal Services Inc. to provide twice-weekly garbage collection and weekly recycling pickup, founder Richard Urrutia and owner and CIO Hugh Herndon are listed on the agenda for Tuesday’s regular Natchez Board of Aldermen meeting.
On Friday, the city added the two executives to its agenda for Tuesday’s meeting, set to begin at 11 a.m. in the City Council Chambers.
Though the city has not announced a closing deal with Arrow as of yet, aldermen unanimously chose last Thursday to negotiate with the company over four other proposals. The city must have a new hauler prepared to serve the city by June 1.
Other items listed on Tuesday’s agenda include the following:
* The relatives of a man who was killed in March during a shooting in a gas station parking lot will address the mayor and board of aldermen about crime within the city.
* The receipt of proposals for the city’s next financial audit, due to the state by the end of June. The city has not completed an audit prior to its due date in several years, but received marks of improvement from auditors in the city’s previous fiscal year.
* The board will see a presentation from the executive director of the Mississippi Tourism Association, Rochelle Hicks.
