FERRIDAY — Services for Paul Button, 75, of Ferriday, who died Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in Alexandria, La., will be 1 p.m. today at Comer Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Don Tate officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.

Mr. Button was born April 6, 1943, in Natchez, the son of Claude Howard Button and Leola Alphie Anthony Button.

He was a riverboat captain, welder, carpenter, Detroit diesel mechanic and an entrepreneur that earned him the proud title of “Jack of all trades.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Chandler Button; two daughters, Paula Button Coats and husband, Ray, of College Station, Texas, and Pauline Button Moore and husband, Seth, of Midland, Texas; one son, Maj. Paul Steven Button and wife, Mary, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth Blaney Antonelli and husband, Gregoire, of Paris, France, Alfred Ray “Trey” Coats III and wife, Melanie, of Houston, Rebecca Coats of Austin, Texas, Sarah Bearden and fiancé, Eddie Compean, of Huntsville, Texas, Shelby Button and Chelsea Button of Savannah, Ga., Caitlin Coats of Dallas, Ashton Moore and Peyton Moore, of Midland, Texas and Darcy Button of Springfield, Ill.; one great-grandson, Alfred Ray “AC” Coats IV; one brother, Jimmy Button and wife, Nita, of Natchez; one sister, Susie Boyler of Natchez; a number of nieces and nephews including Thomas and Debbie Boyler, Edward and Ginger Boyler and Travis and Lisa Morace, with who he had a very special bond.

Pallbearers will be Maj. Paul Steven Button, Trey Coats, Aston Moore, Peyton Moore, Thomas Boyler, Travis Morace, Ray Coats and Seth Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will be AC Coats and Gregoire Antonelli.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Button always said he wanted donations be made to the Berean Children’s Home, 1180 Berea Trail SE, Bogue Chitto, MS 39620.
