NATCHEZ — A Laurel woman on Adams County’s most wanted list turned herself in Tuesday on an indictment for fraud and possession of a controlled substance.

A grand jury indicted Melaney Lynn Banks, 42, 141 Bruce Bryant Road, on charges of possessing more than 40 dosage units of alprazolam with the intent to sell or distribute and obtaining the controlled substance through fraud.

The indictment states Banks successfully received the alprazolam by giving a false prescription to the Natchez Walgreens.

The charges date back to Nov. 23, 2014, but Banks has been on the sheriff’s most wanted list for much of that time.

Lt. Cal Green of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said Banks has been on the most wanted list since the directory was created in 2017.

As of Wednesday morning, Banks is still in the Adams County Jail with a bond set at $17,500.
