NATCHEZ — A woman was fatally shot through the neck at a Natchez club early Sunday morning, Adams County Coroner James Lee reports.

Lee said the woman, Luquitia R. Owens, was in an altercation with another woman. Owens suffered a gunshot wound to the side of her neck and died at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

“I continue to pray for may city all the time but these shootings continue to happen,” Lee said. “I am appalled and horrified.”

Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said officers hope to make arrests in the shooting in the coming hours.

“Not just the person holding the gun,” Armstrong said. “We want to find everyone responsible.”

Armstrong said Owens and another woman were at  Club Rockefeller on Martin Luther King Jr. Street when they got in Ann argument.

The unidentified woman pulled out a pistol and fatally shot Owens, he said.

Armstrong said the investigation is ongoing and more information will become available throughout the day.
