4:15 p.m. UUPDATE: Officers have cleared traffic on the westbound lane of bridge.

VIDALIA — A five-car pile-up on the Vidalia side of the Mississippi River Bridge this afternoon has traffic at a standstill on the bridge.

Vidalia Police Chief Joey Merrill verified a five-car pile-up did occur, but was unable to give any further details at the time.
