NATCHEZ — Chevy fans will be in Chevrolet Heaven this week in Natchez as Great River Chevrolet celebrates its 100th anniversary by bringing the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club’s 21st Annual Southern Spring tour to town.

Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel will have 101 participants of the Vintage Chevrolet Car Club’s 21st Annual Southern Spring Tour.

Participating drivers will check in to Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel on Monday followed by a display of 49 vintage Chevrolets — all models and years from 1926 to 1954 — at 4 p.m. in front of the Great River Chevrolet dealership, 264 Devereux Drive, Natchez.

Great River Chevrolet CEO and Adams County supervisor, David Carter said the dealership would provide food and drinks in a welcome celebration that is open to the public at no cost to attendees.

“Great River Chevrolet is proud,” Carter said. “We’ve been through several names and several owners, but we’ve sold the same great trucks for several decades.”

He said everyone is welcome to stop by the dealership for a hamburger with all of the fixings and see the vintage automobiles from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday.

Between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, drivers will break into four different groups and visit Rosalie Mansion, Stanton Hall, Melrose and Longwood.   

“You’ll see vintage cars all over town,” Carter said.

Wednesday, drivers will follow the Natchez Trace with various stopping points along the way,.

Participants will close the day with a hot dog cookout Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Natchez Visitor Reception Center.

Drivers will make a 60-mile trip Thursday to St. Francisville.

Friday, drivers will spend the day touring the rest of historic Natchez. The visitor center parking lot and Magnolia Bluffs Casino Hotel lobby will house crafts and other goodies, and attendees can either swap or sell their own treasures from home.

The automobile celebration will come to a close Friday evening at 7 p.m.

Carter said this show is his way of celebrating 100 years of excellent vehicles.“This is our kick-off for the next 100 years,” Carter said.
