— Multiple arrests are suspected in connection to 14 car burglaries early Sunday morning across Concordia Parish.

The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy David Hedrick said several people are responsible for the string of car burglaries spanning from Black Bayou Road to Fisherman Drive to Ridgecrest beginning at 3 a.m. Sunday.

All of the vehicles were unlocked at the time, Investigator Phillip Smith said.

“We encourage everyone to lock their vehicles,” Hedrick said. “Do not keep valuables in your car in plain sight.”

Hedrick said his deputies are in the process of obtaining warrants for arrests in relation to the burglaries, but that no arrests have been made at this time.

The burglaries happened consecutively, Smith said, beginning at Black Bayou Road and heading from there to Grape Street — where four cars were burglarized — Fisherman Drive, Plum Street, Apple Street and Peach Street.

Smith said the suspected burglars left a “plethora” of evidence, and that arrests in connection to the burglaries are imminent.

Hedrick said he would not yet release any information on the quantity or value of the items stolen, as any such information may endanger the investigation.

Similarly, Hedrick said any identifying information about the suspects would not be released at this time.

“I commend our deputies Walter Mackel, William Barnes, Thomas Goad and Investigator Phillip Smith, for their dedication and hard work for the people of our parish,” Hedrick said.
