NATCHEZ — Services for LaVell Whittley Jr., 16, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 6, 2018, in Natchez, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Irving Dean officiating.   

Burial will follow at Selstown Cemetery in Stanton under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

LaVell was born Sept. 14, 2001, in Natchez, the son of LaVell DeShawn Whittley Sr. and LeTrice S. Wiley.

He was a sophomore at Natchez High School. He was also a member of Greater Mount Bethel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Wiley, and grandfather, Alfred Whittley.

Survivors include his parents; two brothers, LaXavier and Damion Whittley; one sister, Laila Whittley; five aunts, Natasha and Iris Wiley, Alfreda Whittley, Sharon Miller and Cynthia Whittley-Walker; uncle, Anthony Whittley; and a number of other relatives and friends.
