NATCHEZ — Services for Codessa Marie Davis, 44, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 6, 2018, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Brown officiating.  

Burial will follow at the Sunset View Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Visitation will continue Saturday from noon until service time at the church.

Codessa was born on March 22, 1974, in Natchez, the daughter of James Young and Doris Davis.  She was educated in the Natchez School District.  Codessa was a cook at Fat Mama’s Tamales.  She was member of the Marblestone Baptist Church.  Codessa enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends, shopping, and watching the Lifetime channel.

Ms. Davis was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents, Odessa Thomas Barnes, Willie Byrd, Mary Lee Byrd and Oscar Young.

Survivors include her father; five brothers, James Ford and wife, Angela, and Haqq Muhammad, all of Austin, Texas, Bryan Ford, Benjamin Davis and wife, April, Louis Davis and wife, Temika , all of Natchez; one sister, Joyce McCoy of Natchez; 20 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and friends.
