Franklin County High School junior pitches no-hitter in district title win

BUDE — Franklin County High School’s Jace Watts pitched a no-hitter in five innings as the Bulldogs topped Port Gibson Wednesday night to claim the MHSAA District 7-3A title, 11-0.
On his way to a spotless night, Watts struck out 11 batters while walking just one.
The bats were alive for Franklin County (14-7) as well, as the Bulldogs tallied nine hits themselves.
Dalivan Hunt led the FCHS offense, batting 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Clay Wright followed close behind with two hits and two RBIs. Jacob Clanton batted in another two runs on one hit.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the end of the second inning before adding another four runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the fifth.
Franklin County will be back in action Friday when they travel to Hazlehurst.
