NATCHEZ — Police have charged two Natchez men with shooting into a residence filled with children on Easter Sunday, and say more arrests could be in store.

Police arrested Jehron Jerome Davis, 18, of 7 Davis Court, and Adoriyon Shamar Odom, 18, of 115 Wisteria St., Tuesday night, each on a charge of shooting into a dwelling. Davis was handed a $250,000 bond, while Odom received a $100,000 bond, Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said Wednesday.

Investigators believe, Armstrong said, that Davis fired the shots and Odom was in the vehicle at the time.

Armstrong said the pair only made up half of all the occupants in the vehicle involved in the alleged drive-by shooting, meaning police expect more arrests in the near future.

The arrests stem from what Armstrong has described as the “reckless” firing of multiple bullets into a house on Miller Avenue, which Armstrong said contained at least seven people and several small children. Nobody was hurt in the incident, Armstrong said.

“This is still a fluent investigation that’s been going on since the day of the shooting,” Armstrong said. “Investigators have been working very diligently on this crime, and will continue to work it until its conclusion.”

Investigators believe the motive of the drive-by stemmed from an altercation Saturday between visitors at the Miller Avenue house and the group of suspects, though Armstrong said the altercation did not take place at the house.

Armstrong thanked investigators for their work thus far as well as members of the public for submitting tips that aided police in their investigation.
