NATCHEZ —  Services for Gordon Monroe Hughes Sr., 91, of Vidalia, who died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Matt Duff officiating.

Burial will follow at Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hughes was born June 11, 1926, in Copiah County, the son of Charles Ansolm Hughes and Bessie Stubbs Hughes.

He was a veteran of World War II and the National Guard Reserves. One of his passions was traveling. He loved his family and loved to hunt in his earlier years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby Brazzel Hughes; and two sons, Gordon Monroe “Pee Wee” Hughes Jr. and Michael Wayne Hughes.

Survivors include one son, William Glen “Bill” Hughes and wife, Janet, of Vidalia; one

daughter-in-law, Barbara Hughes of Sherwood, Ark.; five grandchildren, Lisa Coley and husband, Kevin, William Tance Hughes and wife, Lesley, and Seth Marlin Hughes and fiancée, Callie Dallalio, all of Vidalia, Michael Hughes and wife, Kate, of Harrison, Ark., and Tina Huff and husband, Chris, of Wildsville, La.; and nine great-grandchildren, Kyle Coley, Kaylee Coley, Cash Hughes, Landon Hughes, Mason Hughes, Sway Huff, Orry Huff, Solyce Huff and Linden Hughes.

Pallbearers will be Tance Hughes, Seth Hughes, Chris Huff, Kevin Coley and Kyle Coley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Merrill, Joey Merrill and Leonard Lemmons.
