Good people making area better place

Although we sprang forward Sunday for daylight saving time, today we turn the clock back to take a look at some of the good news from last week.
- Adams County will receive approximately $500,000 to make repairs caused by recent natural disasters, officials announced last week. The funds will cover most of what the county needed to take care of projects on backlog, Adams County Board of Supervisors President Calvin Butler said last week. The funding, expected to arrive in the coming weeks, will be a necessary step toward needed repairs in our area.
- What started as a lost bet ended up as an opportunity for Adams County Christian School student Wes Stockstill to land a part in a feature movie filmed in Natchez. After living up to his end of the bargain by trying out for drama club last semester, the teen came to love it and eventually landed a role in the film “Ma.” Stockstill’s path goes to show that opening yourself up and trying new things can lead to a whole new world of opportunities.
- Every Friday at 7 p.m., Rebecca Caldwell and her group, Revelation Wellness — The Battleground, lead a class that aims to help participants become both physically and spiritually fit. The courses, offered through Crossbridge Church in Ferriday, help combine two important aspects of daily life and tie them together — as Caldwell said, people are often able to serve God better when they feel good and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
We might have lost an hour of sleep on Sunday, but at least we should not lose any sleep knowing that good people are constantly trying to make our community a better place.
