Five cars set on fire in Natchez Thursday

NATCHEZ — Five cars on three nearby streets were reportedly lit on fire early Thursday morning, according to Natchez Police reports.

The first two counts were reported at 12:16 a.m. from the 100 block of Dumas Drive, where the hoods of a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue and a 1995 Cadillac El Dorado were on fire.

The next two reports came at 1:22 a.m. from the 400 block of Watts Avenue, where a 1998 Ford Expedition and 2001 Ford Taurus were on fire.

The fifth report came in at 2:11 a.m. from 700 block of Maple Street, where 2006 Ford vehicle was on fire.

The NPD and Natchez Fire Department responded to all incidences.

NPD Chief Mike Mullins said police believe the incidents are related and have identified more than one suspect in the arsons.

“We believe this is an ongoing dispute between two families, and investigators are still working (the case),” Mullins said.
