BATON ROUGE — Memorial services for Joseph Culotta, 86, of Baton Rouge and Lake Concordia, who died Monday, March 5, 2018, at his residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, with the Rev. David Goza officiating.   

Burial will be noon at Greenoaks Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Joseph or “Joe” as he was affectionately called, was a native of Baton Rouge. He was a 1970 graduate of Louisiana State University and a member of the marching band. He worked as a home inspector until retirement at age 73. He had previously worked for the Louisiana Highway Department and Evans-Graves Engineering.

Joe had a number of interests that included fishing, exercising at the YMCA, crossword puzzles and for a short time, even needlepoint. He was a member and leader of a number of civic organizations including Boy Scouts of America, Kiwanis and the Inter-Civic Council of Baton Rouge.

Joe was a member of First Baptist Church Ferriday for the last six years. Before that, he was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, where he taught Sunday school, Evangelism Explosion and served as a deacon. Above all, he was devoted to his faith and family.

Mr. Culotta was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Joy Pichnic Culotta; his parents; and first grandchild, Jordan Bryan Stubbs.

Survivors include three children, Karen Culotta Stubbs and husband, Kenneth, of Lake Concordia, Kenneth Culotta and wife, Catherine, of Maple Grove, Minn., and Kimberly Culotta Stewart and husband, Nash, of Doha, Qatar; 12 grandchildren, Nathaniel Stubbs and wife, Jessica, of Natchez, Andrew Stubbs of Madison, Joanna Stubbs Dixon and husband, Billy, of Ridgeland, Julian Stubbs of Jackson, Alexander Stewart and wife, Monica, Abigail Stewart and Caroline Stewart, all of Baton Rouge, Kathryn Stewart of Guangzhou, China, Claude Culotta and wife, Meg, of Richfield, Minn., Emily Culotta of Costa Mesa, Calif., Annie Culotta of Tempe, Ariz., and Harrison Culotta of San Diego, Calif.; five great-grandchildren, Jack Henry Stubbs and Jordan Thomas Stubbs of Natchez, Samantha Dixon of Ridgeland, Bryan Stubbs of Madison and Magnolia Culotta of Richfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Stubbs, Andrew Stubbs, Julian Stubbs, Alexander Stewart, Harrison Culotta, Billy Dixon and Rusty Culotta.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe’s brothers, Russell Culotta, James Culotta, Jackie Culotta and Leonard Culotta.
