COLUMBUS — On Aug. 6, three area students joined over 200 other high school juniors and seniors to begin the 22 year of classes at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus.

Area students attending the school include Timothy Leak of Woodville, Albert Johnson III of Fayette, and Chikadili Udemgba of Natchez.

Students at MSMS, which has been located on the campus of Mississippi University for Women since its legislative enactment in 1987, enroll in a challenging curriculum of mathematics and science, as well as language arts, humanities and fine and performing arts.

MSMS students also have unique opportunities to participate in dual enrollment programs for college credit, mentorships with area professionals, and research internships at nearby Mississippi State University.
